About us

Bringing intelligence to every thota.

ThotaTracker is made by Future Thota, a small company from Kodagu and Mysore. This is why we built it, who is behind it, what it will cost, and what we promise about your data.

Our vision

Data tools are coming to every plantation.

Every estate already runs on data: the day's weights, the mestri's count, the rate per kg, the bags that left on the lorry. Most of it lives in notebooks and memory, and most of it is never used again.

We believe data tools are inevitable in plantation management, the same way the weighing scale and the mobile phone became inevitable. The question is who builds them, and whether they are built for us. Future Thota wants to bring that intelligence to every grower, not only the largest estates, so that we can all improve together through the collective, data-driven intelligence of the farming community.

ThotaTracker is the start: one place to record your coffee harvest, work, costs, drying and sales, built so that a mestri can use it in the field without signal. Our drone mapping adds the land itself: every block measured, its slope, shade and terrain. Put the two together and you have a complete, honest picture of your plantation, ready to answer almost any question you ask of it.

Who we are

Built by someone who lives on a thota.

I'm Appanna. My family moved to a coffee plantation in Coorg in 2015, and I spent two years running its day-to-day operations. That is where I saw how much a plantation depends on information that is never written down well enough to use.

  • FranceAn MSc in Agri-Food Data Management: statistics, GIS, machine learning and databases, applied to farming and food.
  • NetherlandsData work at an AI food-waste company and then an agri-food sustainability consultancy, building the data tools behind global environmental-impact databases.
  • Back homeIn 2024 I came back to India to bring that global exposure to our own estates, with our own unique challenges: shade-grown coffee, steep land, mixed crops, mestri crews and patchy signal.

Future Thota does drone mapping and GIS for plantations and builds ThotaTracker. Everything we make is tested first on a working coffee estate.

Incubated with the Coffee Board of India. Future Thota is an incubatee of the Atal Incubation Centre at the Central Coffee Research Institute (AIC-CCRI-CED), Coffee Board, Bengaluru, and a DPIIT-recognised startup under Startup India.

Planned pricing

One yearly subscription, for the whole estate.

To keep building ThotaTracker, and to keep the company that builds it alive, we will move to a yearly subscription. This is the pricing we plan:

ThotaTracker

₹10,000 / year

Including GST · about ₹830 a month

  • Coffee and pepper picking, weighing and pay slips
  • General work, drying, consignments and sales
  • Works offline in the field, syncs later
  • Reports, PDF and Excel export
  • Collaborators for your mestri, manager or family
With AI

ThotaTracker + AI

₹15,000 / year

Including GST · about ₹1,250 a month

  • Everything in ThotaTracker
  • Ask your records anything, by typing or speaking
  • Add work by voice: say what was done, confirm, saved
  • Farm journal checked by AI, turned into entries
  • Farm notes that teach the assistant how you run your estate

Why not just upload a spreadsheet to an AI chat?

You can. But an AI model reliable enough to analyse data usually costs a fixed $20 a month, around ₹20,000 a year, and it starts from nothing every time. You still have to collect the data, clean it, put it in a file and upload it again whenever something changes.

ThotaTracker is a one-stop shop for your coffee growing and plantation work: the database, the easy data entry and the analysis, together.

Think of it as the most sophisticated analyst and advisor your estate has ever had, one that has read every record you've kept and answers in seconds. A human analyst of that calibre simply isn't available to most of us, and would cost far more than ₹15,000 a year. All it asks of you is to enter correct and complete data, and we work hard to make that the easy and obvious choice.

Humans keep the strengths no AI can match: the creativity of the questions you ask, and the decisions you take from the answers. The AI is there to answer any question you have, and it is exceptional at analysing data. So if you want a smarter assistant, log as much about your land as you can. It then works for your own estate's needs, and you can shape and grow it over time with your farm notes.

We know that paying a subscription to manage your data is a path-breaking change of mindset for many of us. We are asking for it because it is how we can keep serving you well, and we hope ThotaTracker earns it many times over.

Planned pricing for personal farms, including GST. We'll confirm the details with every user before any billing starts.

Commercial estates (above 100 acres) have different pricing. Get in touch with us to discuss it.

Your data

Ethics and integrity, in writing.

Good data can do a lot of good beyond one estate: better advice, fairer prices, proof of sustainable growing. We want everyone who creates that data to share in its benefits, and we hold ourselves to the highest standards of data ethics and integrity while getting there.

We're open about how data is used

We say plainly what is stored, what the AI sees, where it goes and why.

You stay in control

Export everything to Excel at any time. If we can no longer serve your needs, you take your data with you.

Shared use, shared benefit

Any wider use of good data, such as research or sustainability reporting, happens with your consent and should benefit you too.

The AI works for you

The AI answers from your own records, shows its working, and asks before it changes anything.

Not everyone agrees on what ethics and integrity should look like in business, and we respect that diversity of views. What we can promise is to do our honest best, guided by what we believe is right for both your farm and our company, because neither succeeds without the other. We hope to earn your trust, and we ask for your support as we move forward.

Drone mapping, joined to your ground records.

A drone survey maps every block of your estate: its true area, slope, shade and terrain. In the online farm dashboard, those blocks connect to the harvest and cost records from this app, so one assistant can analyse the whole land, from the air and from the ground. These screenshots are from a real 9-acre coffee estate.

Estate scorecard: area measurements, a rose chart of which way the land faces, slope classes, vegetation height classes and written observations
Estate scorecard

Your whole estate, on one page of numbers

Every survey ends in a scorecard for the estate: true area against the land-record area, how much of it is flat, gentle or steep, which way it faces, and how much is open ground, coffee and tall shade canopy.

  • 8.86 ac of actual ground, 1.5% more than the flat-map area
  • 91% flat or gentle; only 0.05 ac steep
  • Mostly west-facing: 29.5% of the land
  • 51% under tall canopy over 15 m

The same figures exist for each block, so blocks can be compared fairly, and the AI uses them in every answer.

Farm profile: drone map with five coloured blocks, headline figures for area, elevation, slope, canopy and tree height, and a table of acres and canopy per block
Farm profile

Every block, measured from the air

True acres corrected for slope, elevation, which way the land faces, canopy cover and tree height, block by block.

AI answer showing cost per 50 kg dry bag for each block, with each block coloured on the drone map and a table of bags per acre
Air + ground

“Which blocks cost the most for the coffee they gave?”

ThotaTracker's harvest and cost records, matched to the surveyed blocks: cost per dry bag and bags per acre, shown on the map.

AI answer on where to run a harvest road, using each block's height and slope, with the blocks labelled on the drone map
Terrain

“Where should I make a road to collect the coffee during harvest?”

From the terrain model: which block is highest and flattest for a collection yard, how the land falls, and the steep patches to avoid.

AI answer ranking blocks by pepper vine quality and suggesting how to split picking crews, with a table of pepper trees per block
Mapped trees

“Which block has the best pepper, and how should I assign my pickers?”

From 270 pepper-carrying trees mapped on the ground: vine quality by block, and a crew split in proportion to the trees in each.
